FAQ

The Answers You Need

What is IV Therapy?

Intravenous therapy is modern medicine’s way of giving you what you need and can’t get enough of through your gut.  Essentially, it allows one to fully absorb essential micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) and medications by bypassing the GI tract.

What happens if I am vitamin deficient?

Vitamin deficiencies can be the host of many problems such as:

  • Illness

  • Insomnia

  • Fatigue

  • Depression

  • Irritability/Aggression

  • Migraines

  • PMS/PMDD

  • Decreased physical performance and increased recovery time

What are the benefits of IV Therapy?

#1 - Health and Wellness

By finally allowing your body to have access to all its essentials, a noticeable increase in both physical and mental health.

#2 - Instant rehydration

“I drink enough water.”  A phrase most of us say, yet are rarely ever correct about.  The truth is, your GI tract is only able to hold and absorb a limited amount of water.  Although you may not feel dehydrated, the overall function of your cells are often greatly decreased by our unawareness that they themselves are dehydrated; something not simply fixed by “drinking more water”.  Whether you receive an isotonic solution or throw in a few add-ons, intravenous infusion of fluids is a proven-effective way of combating this common, but detrimental problem.

#3 - Increased absorption and bioavailability

On average, only up to 50% of all essential vitamins, minerals, and medications are absorbed into the bloodstream.  These same compounds then need to undergo “First-Pass Metabolism”, making even less of it available for your body to use as needed.  IV therapy bypasses this whole process, allowing your body access to 100% of the much needed substances.

#4 - Refined beauty and skin tone

A result of dehydration and lack of essential vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin A and Biotin (B7), skin will lose its elasticity.  Infusions of these essential compounds will increase your skin’s overall health.  Ask our trained professionals more about the importance of Biotin and its role in keeping you looking younger and healthier for years to come.

#5 - Improved cognitive function

Neuro function has a long and well-documented link to deficiencies in specific vitamins, namely vitamin B12 and D.  Being in a sunshine-filled state, we here in Hawaii are rarely deprived of the latter.  But what about Vitamin B12?  Although there are ways to get some of what you need through your diet, it is rare that you consume enough B12-filled foods to meet your body's needs.  And with an absorption rate of 56%, barely half of what you do consume, actually makes it to your bloodstream.  Your body then expends tons of energy to convert that into a usable form of the compound.  In short, you will never know the capabilities of your mind, without the key to unlock all of its potential;  Vitamin B12 injection is that key.

#5 - Decrease need for ED/Urgent Care visits

“Lost time is never found again.” - Benjamin Franklin

Instead of spending your precious time in an Emergency Room or an Urgent Care waiting room, scheduling with our licensed professionals can help you avoid them all together.  Whether you are recovering from a cold, feeling jet-lagged, or just had a little too much to drink, a customized IV therapy session will have you back on your feet in no-time.

Can I receive IV Therapy if I'm pregnant?

When is comes to IV Therapy and pregnancy, risk and benefits will always need to be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  In general, with the increased blood volume and hormone fluctuation, the infusion of excess fluid will sometimes hold an increased risk.  However, for a mother experiencing prolonged, severe morning sickness, or even hyperemesis Gravidarum, the infusion of IV fluids, vitamins, and amino acids hold a massive benefit.  In general, we here at VITA, will require a clearance note from your attending OB-GYN to receive any IV treatment.
